How-To Guides
Check market prices
Market Info shows indicative daily prices for crops across PNG markets. Use it to decide where to sell and when.
See today's prices
- From the Dashboard, tap Market Info.
- The screen opens to today's prices at your nearest market (from your profile).
- Scroll to see prices by crop.
Filter by crop
- Tap the search or filter field.
- Type the crop — for example kaukau, taro, tomato.
- The list shows that crop across the markets that reported a price today.
Filter by market
- Tap Market at the top of the list.
- Choose a market — Gordons, Mt Hagen, Lae, and so on.
- The list now shows every crop reported from that market.
Compare two markets
To decide where to sell, look at the same crop at more than one market:
- Open Market Info and pick your crop.
- Note the price at your nearest market.
- Switch the market filter to a second market (for example a city market).
- Note the difference.
- Subtract your transport and time cost from the difference to see if the trip is worth it.
Read a price trend
For some crop+market combinations, FARMIS shows how prices have moved over weeks and months.
- Open a crop's market entry.
- Tap the chart or Trend tab.
- The line shows the price over time. A clear up-trend often means it's worth holding off harvest for a bit; a down-trend means sell sooner.
Important caveats
- Prices are indicative, not contracts. Always confirm with the buyer before you transport produce.
- Prices come from sample reporting and can lag a day in remote markets.
- Volume matters — a price quoted for one bag can change if you arrive with twenty.
