About
Watermelon is a popular tropical fruit in PNG, grown in lowland areas where heat and sun promote sweet fruit. It is a high-demand market crop, especially during hot weather. The vine crop requires significant space but produces large, heavy fruit with excellent returns.

Very hydrating (92% water). Good source of vitamins A and C, lycopene (powerful antioxidant), potassium, and citrulline which supports cardiovascular health. Low calorie.
Market Requirements
Fruit should be symmetrical, heavy for its size, with uniform colour and no soft spots. Ground spot should be creamy yellow. Sound hollow when tapped.
