About

Spring onion is a quick-growing vegetable popular in PNG cooking and increasingly in demand at town markets. Unlike bulb onions, spring onions are harvested for their green leaves and small white base. They grow well in both highland and lowland areas and can be harvested in as little as 6-8 weeks.

Health Benefits

Good source of vitamins C and K, folate, and antioxidants. The green tops are rich in vitamin A. Contains quercetin and allicin with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

Market Requirements

Plants should have crisp green leaves and clean white bases. Bundle 8-10 plants per bunch. No yellowed or slimy leaves. Keep roots moist and leaves fresh.
