About

Kumu Musong is one of PNG's most popular traditional green vegetables, harvested from a native fig tree species. The young leaves and tender growing tips are cooked as a staple leafy green throughout PNG. The tree grows naturally in gardens, along fences, and in food forests, requiring minimal care once established.

Health Benefits

Rich in iron, calcium, vitamin A, vitamin C, and dietary fibre. An important mineral source in PNG diets. Leaves are high in protein compared to most vegetables. Traditionally used for lactation support.

Market Requirements

Sell fresh young leaves and tips bundled together. Leaves should be bright green, tender, and unwilted. Bundle 15-20 leaves per bunch.
