About
Cucumber is a fast-growing tropical vine crop popular in PNG markets. It thrives in warm lowland conditions and produces abundantly over several weeks. Both slicing and pickling varieties grow well in PNG. The crop is easy to grow and provides quick returns.
Health Benefits
Very hydrating (95% water). Good source of vitamin K, vitamin C, potassium, and magnesium. Low in calories. Contains antioxidants including cucurbitacins.
Market Requirements
Fruit should be firm, straight, dark green, and of uniform size. No yellowing, soft spots, or oversized seedy fruit. Keep cool and moist after harvest.
