About
Carrots are a popular and nutritious root vegetable grown in PNG highland areas where cooler temperatures produce the best roots. They are a high-value market crop with growing demand in towns and cities. Carrots grow best at elevations above 1,000 metres.
Health Benefits
Exceptional source of beta-carotene (vitamin A precursor) - one carrot provides over 200% of daily vitamin A needs. Also provides vitamin K, vitamin C, potassium, and dietary fibre. Supports eye health and immune function.
Market Requirements
Roots should be straight, smooth, bright orange, and free of cracks or forking. Trim tops to 2 cm. Wash gently before market. Size: 15-20 cm long preferred.
