About

Aibika (slippery cabbage) is the most popular traditional leafy green vegetable in PNG. The mucilaginous leaves are cooked in soups, stews, and with coconut cream. It is extremely easy to grow from stem cuttings and provides a continuous harvest of nutritious leaves.

Health Benefits

Very high in vitamins A and C, calcium, iron, and protein for a leafy green. The mucilage (slippery texture) aids digestion. Excellent source of folate for pregnant women.

Market Requirements

Sell fresh bundles of leaves and young stem tips. Leaves should be bright green, unwilted, and free of insect damage. Bundle 10-15 leaves together.
